Erich Kästner (February 23, 1899 - July 29, 1974) is one of the best known German authors of the 20th century.
He wrote numbers of long period best seller books for tikes rather Emil & a Detectives & A Little Human & a Little Miss, however he was too the political creator. He held pacifistic ideals, & wrote for toddlers because of his belief in the restorative powers of both generation of youth.
He was opposed to the Nazi regime inside Germany, & so his books were burnt under this regime. Around 1960 he was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award for his lifetime contributions to tykes's literature.
